Cold Morning, Engine Light On: Read the Code First
Short answer: if the engine light is on, plug in the V310 and read the code before you decide what the car needs.
A cold start and an engine light are two different jobs. The V310 reads the engine code through the 16-pin OBD-II port. Power comes from the car, at DC 9–16 V.
What to open on the menu
Read Codes shows the stored engine fault. View Freeze Frame keeps the readings from the moment the light came on, including engine speed and coolant temperature where the car provides them. I/M Readiness shows which monitors are complete.
